Eagle Ranch Academy Offer Support for Kids with ADHD and ADD

Eagle Ranch Academy is a residential treatment facility licensed by the state of Utah to treat kids 11-17 years old with clinical diagnoses such as ADHD and ADD. We have clinical psychologists on staff to help both with the initial evaluation of your child when they come on board, and to provide ongoing care for them in a way specific to the needs of teens who have ADHD and ADD. Our intensive program also has a psychiatrist on staff to make it easy to manage and assess their medications, as well as a medical doctor who is always on call and makes regular scheduled visits.

Since we are actually a working ranch, we utilize hard work to help any teen with a diagnosis of ADHD and/or ADD stay focused, by providing specific tasks and milestones for them to complete in a regular day (in addition to counseling, nutrition and fitness regimens). Since both of these medical conditions negatively affect school performance and personal relationships, we have various methodical approaches, some medical, some academic, and some unique to our program, to help students how to work around their diagnoses as much as they can.

ADHD is a common clinical diagnosis in today’s youth, but often, especially in the early stages, families can misinterpret the symptoms, leading to punishment or constant conflict within the home. Common symptoms include:

  • The inability to focus or pay attention, leading the child to make careless mistakes in school. This has a negative impact on their overall academic record. Eagle Ranch Academy provides support in the form of academic programs developed with the help of educational psychologists, who lend their expertise to make our highly rated academic program mindful of the specific needs of ADHD and ADD students.
  • Difficulty in sustaining tasks, following directions, or finishing duties – even those related to entertainment. Eagle Ranch academy plans a productive, rigorous day for teens involving work on the ranch and in the community. We have a Value Based Program where rewards are earned, so any reward a teen wants will have to be preceded with a completed task
  • Does not listen when spoken to, is often forgetful and frequently loses personal items. They may also be fidgety, have difficulty waiting their turn, or otherwise always be (physically) moving. At Eagle Ranch Academy, our clinical team is constantly assessing its Behavior Modification Program to ensure that changes in behavior will be long term, instead of simply returning once they go home.

We understand that these symptoms cause a lot of tension in the home and can make parenting difficult. But more importantly, these affect the potential of your child—regardless of the level of their natural academic, artistic or athletic talents. Instead of only providing medication, Eagle Ranch Academy provides support for kids with ADHD and ADD in a myriad of ways.  Contact one of our admission counselors to see what help options are available to help you get your teen back on track.
